Both cupping and moxibustion are non-invasive techniques to treat illness of the body, mind and emotions.

Moxibustion involves use of a herb called “mugwort” which is burned on or above the skin at acupuncture points, producing a relaxing, yet stimulating warmth. This warmth invigorates the qi and blood in the channels, thereby causing a therapeutic effect that is often equal to, or even superior to acupuncture, depending on the nature of the condition for which it is being used at the time.

Cupping involves the use of glass cups in which a vacuum has been created in order to firmly hold on to the skin by means of suction, thereby causing local congestion in the area that the cup has been applied. The cup creates a therapeutic effect by drawing qi and blood to the areas to which the cup has been applied.
